Rotary Club of Fort Myers South presents 35th Annual All Star Classic

Sponsorships are available. The game features top local high school football players from Lee County, Florida.

Rotary Club of Fort Myers South will present the 35th Annual All Star Classic (ASC), supported by title sponsors Acentria Insurance and Tower Hill Insurance Group, from December 11 through December 13.

This organized county-wide game recognizes players and cheerleaders from Lee County High Schools, and a variety of sponsorships are available. Proceeds from the game will benefit the Rotary Club of Fort Myers South Foundation, Inc. that supports various local community programs and scholarships for
those in need.

The All Star Classic banquet will take place on Monday, December 11, at Fort Myers High School, from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm to recognize the participating student-athletes and cheerleaders. The 35th
annual All Star Classic football game will be held on Wednesday, December 13, at Fort Myers High
School with kickoff at 7 pm.

“We are honored to showcase the annual All Star Classic, which has been a long-standing
tradition that supports our students and our community,” said Rebecca Goff, Rotary Club of Fort Myers South Past President and Event Chair. “This year’s changes are exciting! I hope to continue
reviewing opportunities for community support through increased marketing and media presence,
driving sponsorship support next year. It’s important to continue creating an amazing showcase of
the student’s talent, this honored tradition and maintaining one of the top player-selected All Star
games in the state of Florida.”

The event was the first countywide high school football all-star game in Florida when it was
founded in 1989. John Carrigan, a Sanibel resident, teacher, and referee wanted to showcase
talented players who weren’t getting their due. Since then, it’s grown into a hotbed of top-level
prospects, and nearly two dozen players who have taken part in the game have gone on to NFL
careers.

Historically the contest pitted a North team against a South team, which were geographical
representations of the school locations. As the county has grown and schools have been added, it was time for a change and to drive increased competition. This year the change has been made to
rename each team to BLUE and GOLD, representing the Rotary brand colors. The players were
selected for each team based on the team’s MaxPrep ranking at the end of the regulation
high school football season. This change should provide more even-matched talent on both teams
creating the All Star game experience for both the players and the spectators. Each player and
cheerleader receive a customized commemorative ring or bracelet for being selected as an All
Star.

As costs have continued to increase, the Rotary Club is seeking donations and sponsors to help
cover the cost of the events. Businesses and individuals can sponsor the event, a team, player, or
cheerleader. Please contact the event chair, Rebecca Goff, at (239) 229-9371 or rgoff1021@gmail.com for more information.

Tickets to the game or banquet may be purchased online here. Banquet tickets are $40 per person through Game tickets are $10 per person, with parking at $5 per vehicle.
